VIRTUE: Perseverance™

Patience - Steambent Icon.png

Steambent shells are made from a single board of solid wood with horizontal grain orientation. After being treated with steam, the wood is bent into a cylindrical form. A tapered scarf joint connects the previously opposing ends and the resulting shell is then machined to a smooth finish. Solid reinforcement rings are added for lasting integrity. Proper execution of this difficult technique requires a great deal of tenacity.
